Should I exfoliate the skin on my back or will it worsen acne?

I have had pretty bad acne on my back, but now that I am using head and shoulders (in the shower and after I get out) my acne is almost completely flat on my back. My problem now is all the red marks. I need to know how to get rid of them! It's so stressful. Also, I have heard that exfoliating the skin on my back a couple times each week is good for it. How should I go about doing that? Would a wash cloth work or should i use something else?

thanksShould I exfoliate the skin on my back or will it worsen acne?
If you do decide to exfoliate, I have a great recipe for you. It is good for sensitive skin..It is sugar scrub... Mix in plastic jar since you will be using in shower...Mix one cup extra virgin oil, 1/2 cup sugar/any pure oils, if you want..I like lemon ....mix well and rub in circular motions. Then rinse well. Easy at first until you know your skins tolerance..I love it and it is not expensive and it will only have the fragrance you want it to have,,,

Help!!! How do you exfoliate for my dry, flaky, and acne prone skin?!?

OMG my skin is soooo dry. I had dry skin before, but ever since I started using Proactiv, it has become drier because of the benzoyl peroxide. Proativ has actally helped clear my skin a lot, but it's just really dry. And it's flaky and you can see my skin like peeling off!! It;s so annoying and ugly!!! My make up looks horrible (and I don't even use a lot of make up. I use proactiv makeup). ANd I use moisturizer, but it still doesn't help.

Instead of putting stuff on my face (like moisturizer), I want to take off this dry skin!!! like exfoliate....but how do u exfoliate? what do u use???? like the St. Ives scrubs? I don;t like those....what else?Help!!! How do you exfoliate for my dry, flaky, and acne prone skin?!?
First of all,u should not exfoliate ur skin since this could only make ur skin worse than before.Try to switch to another cleanser that suits dry skin and gives moisture while u cleanse.I would recommend u to use Skin Medica,Neova or Murad cleanser since these cleansers moisturize ur skin while cleansing and gentle to ur skin.U could also opt for Clinique's moisturizer since it hydrates ur skin gently. However,if u would like to opt for remedies at home,I would recommend these 3 different steps for u to try at home.

-Make a puree of 1 banana and 1 papaya, peach or avacado. Apply to skin.Leave on for at least 20 minutes then rinse with warm water, followed by a moisturizer of natural margarine or natural vegetable oil.

-Apply natural mayonnaise, either homemade or from natural foods store.Massage into skin, leave on for 15-20 minutes, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

-Grate the rind of one whole lemon into 4 tablespoons plain yogurt.Mix and rub over entire body concentrating on the driest patches. Rinse.

Well, these are those remedies that would work best for ur skin type.Good luck trying this at home at great skin wishes.Help!!! How do you exfoliate for my dry, flaky, and acne prone skin?!?
I would Not try to exfoliate just yet. Your skin will only flake more if you do that. Use Olay Moisturizer twice a day, after washing your face + Pat dry! Don't Rub when drying off your face after washing! Try not to scratch your face either- even though it is probably itchy! I tried Proactive once upon a time too and it failed for me, so you might want to rethink continueing with it. Plus, for a little while, I would not use any concealers, foundations, and/or especially powders.

I heard people with severe acne aren't supposed to exfoliate, is it true or just BS?

I heard that exfoliating will cut up your acne and actually inflame it and make it worse.

I thought it was best to exfoliate at least twice a week to remove all the layers of dead skin that build up.

I have extremely severe acne and am currently on antibiotics, topical treatments, and next month I will be going on the pill. Don't give me crap about my antibiotics or topical treatments because whenever I ask a question people just give me crap about it. I am not asking for your opinion on my choice of treatments, I am asking you if I should exfoliate or not.

I have been exfoliating with proactive gentle formula with 2% salicylic acid but am returning it because it hasn't been working and am buying the St. Ives scrub for acne prone skin.

Yeah so....

To exfoliate or not to exfolilate?I heard people with severe acne aren't supposed to exfoliate, is it true or just BS?
NO, DO NOT DO IT ! it may leave permanent scars. %26amp; cause infection, then you will have a bigger problem , just do what you are doing. GOOD LUCKI heard people with severe acne aren't supposed to exfoliate, is it true or just BS?
I'm not 100 per cent sure, but my opinion is that it is ok to do so, as long as you are really gentle and don't scrub too hard, otherwise it would aggravate the acne. Also, I would probably do it no more than twice per week.

You should try roacutane, that's what I used as a teenager, and I didn't see another pimple for many years.
I don't think exfoliation will worsen your acne, but it may leave ';ice pick'; scars in the future and these may be difficult to treat. This is from my experience especially with guys with severe acne who picks their acne. Ice pick scars would require dermabrasion procedures, which are expensive.

I hv pimples and acne. is it alright for me to exfoliate my oily face?

Is your skin dry as well. Exfoliation is a great way to remove or sluff off dead/dry skin. But only do it once a week TOPS. If you have overly oily skin, you should try proactiv. I've been using it for my skin, and it cleared up within just a few weeks. I love it. You can get it alot cheaper off of ebay too. Good luck!I hv pimples and acne. is it alright for me to exfoliate my oily face?
It is not true. Rather, using a exfoliater aggrevates oil glands and you will get more pimples. I am a certified skin care analyst placed in Houston and dallas. those scubs spread bacteria and agrivate the spots if you have acne. use exfoliating lotion like clinique 'step 2'. go on oral anti biotics 4 the acne.
I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://acnehomesolution.com/index.html that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.
yes, i would recommend to start that you just exfoliate with warm water on a wash rag first thing when you get out of bed and right before you go to bed. After you do that for about 8-9 weeks, then exfoliate every other night with Clearasil Daily Care pore cleansing pads. On the days you dont use Clearasil continue with the washing with a wash rag.
i only exfoliate once a week, and i wash my face at least once a day (usually twice a day) with Neutragena Rapid Clear face wash and it is made to control oily skin and it works great! ive been using it for five years and it keeps my skin clear, and i used to have pimples and acne too! so it may be worth a try for you to check it out - it worked for me!

you can buy it at walmart for about $6
yes u can exfoliate ur oily skin but u should use the one that goes with ur skin which means dont ever use things that has oil in their ingrediants..i wish u the best skin ever.. :)
If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

I checked out this site, and it says that exfoliation and salycylic acid are best for body acne. I use Clean %26amp; Clear with that chemical, and I use a loofah. Our water is well water- harsh and limey. So, what's my next move?

Thanks!HArd water, soaps, and body acne- the more I exfoliate, the WORSE it gets- please help!?
loofahs harbour enough germs and bacteria to kill a horse.

You need a freshly clean washcloth daily. The secretions are coming off and onto what you are washing it with. Oil.

Use an anti-bacterial soap.

If you have sensitive skin exfoliators will only aggrevate it.Be gental or it will be worse. The harder you press the deeper it will go.

Eat the right foods, keep your hair and hands off your face.Drink water.HArd water, soaps, and body acne- the more I exfoliate, the WORSE it gets- please help!?
Your skin is probably irritated from all the scrubbing, which can cause more acne. Just exfoliate with out any washing substance.

In general, you should not be both using an acne treatment and exfoliating. The combination can be too irritating. I just happen to read an article about acne. Don't know if it helps. You may want to go in to this link and check it out.

I exfoliate my skin everyday could that make acne worse?

i heard you shoud only exfoliate only once a week. It's a harsh process for your face.I exfoliate my skin everyday could that make acne worse?
No. It will help.I exfoliate my skin everyday could that make acne worse?
yes, if your skin is dry, sensitive, and irratation can cause acne. If you irritate your skin, inflammation occurs and the pores will swell up. most people exfoliate 2x's a week at most

    Exfoliate for acne?

will an exfoliate cream you buy like the kind from walgreens or rite aid help get rid of acne or make it better

if exfoliate cleans toe dead skin and dirt away can it help minimize acne on back and shoulders?Exfoliate for acne?
yes, exfoliating can help....it will remove the dead outer layer of skin and open and clean the poresExfoliate for acne?
Honestly, I think exfoliators make my acne even worse. I prefer to use something like neutrogena acne wash (its an orange liquid in a pump bottle)-it's helped me the most, or the Deep Clean cream wash-which I think is from Clearasel. (It's in a bluish bottle). Good luck!
exfoliating is a major step, but you also need to cleanse the area well and tone it with an astringent. do not use super hard exfoliators daily, it can harm your skin more than help.

Wise to exfoliate with mild acne?

Is it wise and worthwhile to exfoliate while ive got mild acne? Also are there any good exfoliating products out there which can be used?Wise to exfoliate with mild acne?
It isn't advisable especially as you have mild acne. The bacteria from the sopts will spread %26amp; become infected, resulting in more spots.

Try a product called ';Quinoderm'; this will rid you of your mild acne, %26amp; it's now available over the counter, so if you can give it a go.

I used it back in the 1980's when it was only available through a Dr. My daughter had a bout of mild acne, I took her to the Dr %26amp; he then told me Quinoderm was available from the chemist. He also said that nothing has ever matched it's effectivenenss.Wise to exfoliate with mild acne?
I wouldn't. Try taking zinc and evening primrose oil, and using a mild wash for acne. Make sure you use a moisturiser as well, and do this twice a day. Do not do too much to your skin, as you will make things worse. Keep your hands off it,and drink plenty of water, stay away from fried foods, caffeine, and sweets.

Exfoliating products ... are they really good or bad for acne scars blackhead?

I am 21 old male. I've got acne scars and blackheads all over my forehead and cheeks. I've never used any of these skin care out there coz i am so cautious and i dont wanna put my self into bad situation. anyway friend of mine [female] advised me of Clear%26amp;Clean exfoliating daily wash. but i am still worried to buy it before I know what is exfliating and how good is it for facial problems, and wheather this product is the good one out there.Exfoliating products ... are they really good or bad for acne scars blackhead?
I would advise seeing a dermatologist. They will be able to recommend the best way to treat your scars and blackheads.

As for the Clean%26amp;Clear - I wouldn't bother. I recently bought the exfoliating daily wash and it ruined my skin. Usually exfoliating is great for your skin, however this one just dries up your skin completely. Even with using a ton of moisturiser it still looked awful.

Personally, I believe that most skin products sold in shops are useless.

I was once prescribed medication from my doctor which completely cleared up my skin. I think your best bet is to see a professional :)

Good luck :)Exfoliating products ... are they really good or bad for acne scars blackhead?
Despite hoards of new beauty products for removing blackheads, these home remedies could work wonders!

Home remedies for removal of blackheads

Apply a paste made of ground radish seeds and water on affected areas, the effect is magical.

Mix glycerin soap, fuller's earth and almond powder in 2:1:4 ratio with boiled water to make a paste. Apply this paste on the blackheads.

Apply paste of fresh fenugreek leaves mixed with water on the face every night and wash off with warm water in the morning to prevent blackheads.

Apply paste of roasted and powdered pomegranate skin with fresh limejuice over blackheads.

Wet cotton in warm water mixed with Epsom salt and iodine. Dab them on blackheads to loosen them.

Use green tea as a face scrub to loose blackheads.

    Mash drumsticks pods and leaves.

Mix it with fresh limejuice and apply on the trouble spots.

Combine 录 cup of hot water with 1 tsp of Epsom salts and 4 drops of iodine. Mix well and let it cool until it is lukewarm.

Dip cotton ball in to the mixture and apply on the affected area. When the mixture dries, remove it gently with a washcloth.

These natural remedies for eliminating blackheads comes at no or negligible cost, purity, without side effects and dollops of TLC.
ok for the acne scars i would reccomend bio-oil, exfoliating isnt gonna help scars, you can buy a cheaper version called rescue oil for 拢1.99 from home bargains, i use it, has reduced my scars like you wouldn't believe, for the black heads i would recommend a facial steam, it can be done by buying a steamer or using a bowl of boiling water, hover your face over the water, and place a towel over your head, yes you will get hot but it can also help clear your lungs too, stay there for 20-30 mins, then while your face is still hot splash cold water on it, the hot steam opens the pores, making all the gunk fall out, then the cold water seals them before anything else can get in, this is only a short term thing and will nedd repeating weekly, but there are no nasty chemicals, and it really will help your skin.. good luck either way...
Please consider finding a good dermotologist and looking into treatment options. With all the break throughs in medical science, there may be a treatment out there that will really help you.

Exvoliating is a process where you remove dead skin cells. It's actually good for your skin. But men tend to get this effect while shaving. Seriously, check out a dermotologist. I have a feeling he or she will suprise you.
They are good for acne scars and blackheads. Try papaya kojic and licorice base soap and cream which are

    available online. These work wonders.

Maybe it will work on you too.

Try searching it through Google 'shopaholic's bargains'

What kind of exfoliate should you use for ';back acne';?

I'm starting to get some..and I want it GONE, but i don't want to use an exfoliate that might irritate my skin or make things worse.

Would just a normal facial exfoliate work?

(I have Clean and Clear's Morning Burst)

I also have this body exfoliant in-shower stuff from The Body Shop.

    Help..?

=/What kind of exfoliate should you use for ';back acne';?
the body shop stuff should work but i also use the exfoliating gloves from there to.there tea tree oil products work great. What kind of exfoliate should you use for ';back acne';?
I have had the same problems and I'm big into home remedies. I used a mix of regular sugar and olive oil. I use it all over and its a great exfoliate and it keeps your skin hydrated. And during the summer, if you enjoy watermelon, keep the rinds. (Like the green and white-sh part) Before you go to bed, rub the inside of the rind on your back (it works for your face too!) and it will draw out the dirt and bacteria. It may look bad at first but its just cleaning out your skin. I hope it works for you!!
Use a normal acne wash or Murad from Bath/Body workds.

It has beads in the wash.

Use a lufa or brush on a stick to scrub your back.

Small doses of the sun help too.
go to the dermatologist and ask for glycone... I use it and it really works! =D

  • What happens if you exfoliate your face while you have a lot of acne?

Exfoliating once a week is safe, but any more than that and you risk opening the acne and spreading the bacteria all over your face. Your acne will spread and if you continue to exfoliate, and rub off that skin that's trying to heal, you can end up with terrible acne and later on, terrible acne scars. Take cues from your skin, if you can feel dead flaking skin, exfoliate, if it feels a bit raw and sensitive, don't exfoliate! Your skin produces natural oils which protects and helps heal that acne you have now, but be careful or you will end up with permanent marks, gentle is always best. Try tea tree oil products!

-Good luck! Acne isn't fun, but it will get better! What happens if you exfoliate your face while you have a lot of acne?
When you exfoliate your face, you're removing the top layer (layers if you scrub too hard) of skin along with dead skin cells, dirt, and oil. Generally, it will help your acne, but it is sooo important to put a moisturizing cream on afterward. You should mix a bit of acne cream (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur, triclosan, adapalene, etc...) in with something like Cetaphil on after you exfoliate, and you should only do it before you go to bed, then wash your face in the morning with a MILD cleanser, again, Cetaphil to the rescue...they have a moisturizing cleanser. You mustn't exfoliate too often (everyone has different skin; Still, 1-3 times per week max). If you've got insurance, get a referral to a dermatologist---if you can't help yourself within a month or so. Sulfur acne products, I believe, work the best. A few years ago, I asked my doctor to write me a compound Rx with: 5% benzoyl peroxide, 2% salicylic acid, 2% clindamycin, %26amp; 5% sulfur....most pharmacies offer compounding services, %26amp; that way, you can avoid spending so much money on all these different OTC meds by having them lumped into one Rx and paying a single co-pay. good luckWhat happens if you exfoliate your face while you have a lot of acne?
hi, ok if you have ALOT of acne using a exfoilater can be very bad for it.

becuase the grainy little beads in the wash are rubbing against your acne it can cuase scarring to your face and over dry it.

you should only exfoiliate once a week, and do it very gently. or use a gentle exfoilater. it is also bad for people WITHOUT acne to exfoiliate too much. i cant remember exactly why, but its got something to do with the top layer of your skin always having new weaker? cells.
With the word ';exfoliate'; this means to wash the skin off. Now, why wouldn't you want to wash the loose skin off and be clean.

Probably not Is exfoliating my face going to do anything about my acne?
    It depends with what.

Just a simple scrub to remove dead skin will probably just irritate your skin if you use it too much. But if you use a scrub with acne medication in it (like Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub), the results will be much better! Is exfoliating my face going to do anything about my acne?
It will do if you do it long enough.

I know a chap who now has only one cheek. The other one just disappeared in his exfoliating cream.

He is still trying to get rid of the other as it is still covered in acne.
Just start washing your face with water only and your acne will probably dissapear altogether,,failing that use simple soap,,not perfumed, not coloured just kind
No but a paper bag over your head will!

First of all, when it comes to acne treatment it is really important that you have a complete set of skincare products which consists of cleanser, toner and moisturizer.Carry these 3 steps twice daily and you'll see improvements in your skin.It is best not to mix products since it could cause chemical reactions and worsen your skin.Personally,I think that your acne worsen because of the Oxy Pad and it's better for you to stop from using it.This is because benzoyl peroxide could make your skin worse if you have sensitive skin type.Switch to a more gentle product if you want. You could also try these homemade remedies to treat your acne.Good luck trying these at home(:

Honey Paste-Another easy and effective homemade acne treatment is to make a paste of honey with cinnamon and nutmeg. All you need is about one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and about half of it nutmeg powder. Add some honey to make enough paste to cover the inflammed area completely. Just lie down as honey may dribble down. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes and wash with luke warm water.

Orange peel-Homemade Acne Treatment using Orange peel has been found very effective. Pound the orange peel with water on a piece of stone and apply to acne affected areas.

Basil tea-Basil tea like neem is effective in killing bacteria. Drinking it twice a day can do wonders to the skin.

Coconut Oil-Coconut oil is a cheap and easily available acne solution. Regular use of coconut oil over a period of time helps to clear your skin.

Lemon Juice-A simple remedy at home for acne: Apply lemon juice regularly to reduce pimples and acne. This has proven beneficial results.

  • What is the most effective way to exfoliate using a kettle (acne wise) and how often a day is most effective?

currently i have just had my face above the nozzle of a kettle for 10 mins, twice a day, followed by a hot shower wear i wash my face, (and then twice a week i use an exfoliating face wash, as thats how often it indicates to use it)

is this the most effective way for reducing acne in terms of exfoliation, or should i for example put a towel over my face when doing it? ect...What is the most effective way to exfoliate using a kettle (acne wise) and how often a day is most effective?
The more you do to your skin, the more sore and irritated it will get. This will make it produce more sebum (oil), and so cause more spots.

My advice is to stop trying to 'exfoliate', and don't use any harsh scrubs on your skin, even if it is only twice weekly. The best treatment for acne is to wash your face with Clearasil or similar twice per day, then apply a little light, unscented moisturiser.

Anything more just makes things worse. What is the most effective way to exfoliate using a kettle (acne wise) and how often a day is most effective?
Exfoliating one's face will probably have no effect on acne, even if you put three towels over your face.

From the age of 13, I struggled with acne. My mother also struggled. She took me to at least a half dozen dermatologists, spending hundreds of dollars to help me. My parents were not wealthy. My father was a mechanic, and my mother was a stay-at-home mother.

One dermatologist recommended I cut my hair very short, and shampoo with a prescription shampoo every day. One dermatologist used a special instrument to ';pop'; my zits, and prescribed a prescription medication to apply. One dermatologist recommended I stop eating any fried foods and apply Clearasil. I tried the ';kettle';, for 30 minutes every day. Nothing worked.

My mother finally found, through her sister, a dermatoligist who used x-ray treatments on severe skin anomalies. I had 12 x-ray treatments on my face over 50 years ago, and have never had acne problems since. I have no scars.

My cousin, who also had acne problems, had her face ';planed';. She has scars that can only be removed by plastic surgery.

Unfortunately, x-ray treatments for acne are not longer available. Too bad.
You can take a hot compress to your face before washing it before bed -

I'd exfoliate twice a week but make sure it's for acne prone skin -

    Question about cleansing/exfoliating for acne?

okay so i have been using neutrogena oil free acne wash (the orange gel) and its workin but im left with many blackheads. so today i bought neutrogena blackhead scrub. I was wondering when I wash my face in the morning do I just use the blackhead scrub (its exfoliator) or do I have to use both? Does the blackhead scrub count as a cleanser? And do I have to use either of these if im going to use a baking soda mask? what order? ThanksQuestion about cleansing/exfoliating for acne?
you shouldnt us the scrub everyday, because it is harsh on your skin. you can use it about 3 times a week and the rest of the time use your cleanser. the scrub counts as a cleanser. but you can use both in this order (because the scrub will work better if your pores are open) 1)cleanser 2)shower with steam 3)scrub 4)mask 5)toner/mosturizerQuestion about cleansing/exfoliating for acne?

I'm not sure b/c I don't use that stuff. BUT, if you are having trouble with blackheads...put a layer of white elmer's glue all over your face, and then let it dry and peel it off. It will get out the blackheads the same way that the expensive pore strips do that you can buy at the store. I do it every now and then when I need to and it's so much fun to peel it off! It kind of hurts but just pull it off quick and fast like a band-aid. It sounds weird I know, but I saw it on the Ellen Degeneres show (from some woman who goes on there from time to time and gives good at home remedies for various problems). Also, they have blackhead extractors at walgreens in the section where the tweezers and eyelash curlers are. They come right out its so weird...but very addictive. Everytime I use it I break out though.
I would see if the blackhead scrub has BHA';s in it. If it doesn't I would look for a skin moisturizer (oil free ofcourse) which has BHA's in it. this will help to minimize the back heads and further shrink your pores. It takes a while to see the results but worth it.

Does Ambi Exfoliating Cream help with acne?

I have no idea if ambi works BUT, to get rid of pimples use a TOPICAL DISINFECTANT: Benzoyl peroxide is considered the most effective over-the-counter choice for a topical disinfectant to fight acne. You buy it in a cream form

Clean and clear has one in a 5% and 10% concentration.(Clean %26amp; Clear Persa-Gel 10 (or 5), Maximum Strength). That will help clear up the acne. it worked really well for me!

Will exfoliating skin with acne cause scarring?

NEVER exfoliate your skin if you have acne it will spread the bacteria all over yor face and cause more pimples use a cream that contains hydrogen peroxide

Is it good to exfoliate/scrub acne-prone skin?

If so, then how many times a week?Is it good to exfoliate/scrub acne-prone skin?
yes to remove dead cells and in unclog pores. I recommend the st. Ives apricot scrub n its inexpensive . Scrub gently in a cirrcular motion twice a week Is it good to exfoliate/scrub acne-prone skin?
It depends. If you have sensitive skin, then you probably only want to exfoliate a max of once a week. If not, then you can probably exfoliate up to three days a week depending on how much you really need to. Also, don't SCRUB your face, massage it gently in a circular motion with two of three fingers. Hope this helps. =]
Yes,to get rid of dead skin cells and dirt which just soap and water/face wash does not remove. If you dont exfoliate, the dirt and dead skin cells can clog pores and lead to further acne.Exfoliating once or twice a week is a good idea,I don't recommend doing it any more often than that.
Yes it is a good idea, you should exfoliate once or twice a week. I have to exfoliate twice a week because I have combination skin that will get both oily and flakey if I don't. If you have sensitive skin use a gentle scrub rather than a regular or intensive one.

    Does exfoliating spread acne????

ok this might sound really wierd..and ur probably thinking..'NO YOU IDIOT, EXFOLIATION HELPS ACNE!!' but whatever..listen to what i have to say..and then ull get my drift...ok well..lets say i have some face scrub on my hand and i rub it on a pimple filled part of my face, then i use the same scrub and scrub my cheeks which dont have any acne or any pimples...wouldnt it be sort of transferring the germs and acne and bacteria from my pimple part of face to my cheeks? and wont that be spreading acne?? help plzzz!! thanks xxxxDoes exfoliating spread acne????
first, determine the cause of your acne, it may be caused by an allergic reaction to your shampoo, cosmetics, moisturizer. Find products that are non comodogenic, meaning they do not clog the pores. scrubbing on acne prone skin will actually worsen acne cases. scrubbing will irritate the skin and will make the acne cystic (fluid filled) i suggest using a facial foam with antibacterial ingredients (tea tree oil) and skin calming ingredients. then use acne spot removers, the one with salycylic acid or benzoyl peroxide would be recommended.Does exfoliating spread acne????
using a scrub will not spread your acne. using a scrub will help with removing the dead layer of skin on your face. and may even help with your acne. I would recommend using it only once a week. I hope I helped. even using a facial my help as well. also on a weekly basis.
thats the way that you're suppose to do it and it works. just put a small amount into the palm of your hands and rub it onto your face with your finger tips. the acne wont spred especially if you leave the cream on your face long enough and then wash it completely off. your best bet is you use it in the shower. put it on and then wash your hair or whatever, then rinse the cream off. this will also reduce the risk of your acne spreding, because of the water being on your face during the process.
If u have severe acne do not use scrubs on your face as the scrub irritates the pimples and makes them even worse...when i had acne and used a scrub i have noticed that they became worse and did actually spread...try something milder...products from Palmer's really do help...
One of the best ways to fight mild cases of acne is to speed up the natural exfoliation process of your skin. Exfoliation is the process by which the topmost layer of your skin, which contains many dead cells, is removed by mechanical or chemical means. Clearing away dead skin helps prevent the clogging of pores by a combination of excess sebum and dead cells. Exfoliation is not meant in the visible sense of the word, since you won鈥檛 see skin peeling away as in the case of shedding. The topmost layer of your skin is too thin to be seen with the naked eye.
no scrubbing does not help spread acne because acne's are made out of dirt and oil of our body and scrub helps it to get cleaned!! now don't say that you use one soap for one cloth!! scrub only cleans!!
no, no, you're thinking too hard about it

scrubs dont spread anything - all they are for is cleansing - seriously, its good taht you know that exfoliating is good for acne, because it is

Can anyone help with Acne Treament using Exfoliating?

    Acne Treatment: Exfoliating

There are many things that you can do to help to improve your skin鈥檚 condition when it comes to acne treatment. One of them is exfoliation. This is the process of using a non harmful but slightly abrasive product to rub and wash against the skin. Like most other types of acne treatment, it is common for these products to help when worked in conjunction with others. Yet, exfoliating the skin can be one of the best ways to treat acne.

There are several different types of products that you can use for exfoliating. It can be done through a mechanical element such as an abrasive scrub product or a liquid soap which are made for the use of exfoliating. These are the most common types of products used for exfoliating. Exfoliating can also be done chemically by using products such as salicylic acid as well as glycolic acid. These products will help the skin to peel back the top layer of it. It is nothing that you will see happening and in most case you will not feel anything bad. The goal here is to use these products to help remove the top layers of the skin where dead skin cells are. These cells get into the skin through the pores and block them. This blockage along with the over production of oils that happens in the skin can encourage acne. These products can be used as both preventative measures or as a treatment for existing acne.

When you have acne that is already present on your skin, you can use exfoliating products that are designed as treatment products. You should take note though that you do not want to cause pain to your face especially in those sensitive acne areas. Always use the products as directed for the best results and the right reaction on your skin.

In some cases, exfoliation can cause visible flaking of the skin. This is generally normal and should not be anything to alarm you. You may want to purchase moisturizers for your skin that are not oil based to use after the exfoliating process. You may want to consider these because the skin can become quite dried out and irritated. You will find these moisturizers available with the exfoliating products. Look for those that can be used in conjunction with each other for the best results. Exfoliating is a good way to work on healing or preventing acne on your face and throughout the rest of your body. Always follow the manufacturer鈥檚 directions, though, to insure the best possible outcome.

Can anyone help with Acne Treament using Exfoliating?
Actually, exfoliating is not a good way to treat acne. If you exfoliate a pimple you are basically popping it before it is ready. But, exfoliating your skin is a good way to prevent acne. I would suggest you to exfoliate only the areas where there are no pimples. Don't exfoliate every day, 2 to 3 days a week is enough.

They have to potential to, however don't use them daily. Use them maybe once or twice a month. This is because the ';scrubbing'; can irritate your pores as well as over excite your pores/glands. Hence, causing more acne to occur.Exfoliating glove going to make acne worse?

    Does exfoliating really aggravate acne?

i've heard this more than once, and was wondering whether it's true.Does exfoliating really aggravate acne?
Here is an article that should help. It is about exfoliation for different skin types including acne.Does exfoliating really aggravate acne?
Exfoliating does aggavate acne, my daughter had acne, the dermatologist told us no to let her used any exfoliating products on her face, It has been about six months ago and now her face is beautiful and she uses an exfoliator by Color Mr Beautiful Proof Positive Microdermabrasion. It has a real fine grit nothing like the other microdermabrasion products.
Yip it does, I suffer from Acne and the best thing to do is if you have a UV lamp then treat the area that you want with the lamp. Sit close to it (not as close as it burns) but so you get the area in the uv light and sit for approx 15 mins and do that 5 times per week for about 1 month should help and if you use a good cream like ';betnovate'; (this is a steroid) mind the area your treating has not to have cream on it while under the lamp OR another good cream is ';dovobet'; (steroid? don't know) ask your doctor that is the best thing to do But exfoliating will irratate it to no end. :) good luck
I used to have horrible acne, and if I didn't exfoliate it made my acne worse!! However, if you have really sensitive skin I would not advise exfoliating. I'd try it out and see how it works. If it fails, I'd try a gentle chemical peel. I know they sell them at Kohl's for cheap.
Yes it does, acne and pimple spread by touching, exfoliation could exacerbate acne.
No it doesnt. You just need the right exfoliating product. St. Ives has a great line of scrubs for all different skin types. Try them out! Thats what I use and I have oily skin prone to break outs but when i use their scrub, it keeps my skin clear. I use the one designed for acne/blackheads and it works great.
Yes...you must have reasonable healthy skin...fix the acne then exfoliate...don't let anyone tell you different
    no, its not true
I don't think so bc when I get micro dermabrasion it gets rid of my acne
Trying to cure acne from the outside in will always fail. Try to work on it from the inside out. One thing dermatologists never tell you is there is a clear connection between bread and acne. Stay off bread, pasta, breakfast cereals, potatoes, cookies and cakes. That should help, as well as keeping your face clean and taking plenty of water, fruit and veggies.

Personally, I tried it once on a scar on my knee. It burnt my skin terribly. I have very sensitive skin. Might I suggest you do a patch test on your leg prior to attempting to put it onto your face?
No. Will you ever forget your first kiss or husband? A scar cannot be removed. Cosmetic surgery(Laser skin resurfacing) is the closest to getting rid of any scar. And that might take alot more than one visit. So, if you have the money to risk then take that risk and find out,If not then you will be insecure for the rest of your life if it bothers you that bad. Sorry.

Soap dries out the skin. I don't know how legitimate the claims are, but Dove is supposedly not a soap. I have been using the exfoliating bar with the little black beads to wash my face twice a day and have had no issues with dry skin.

I doubt it would help acne any more than any other soap would. Keeping your face clean is the number one thing to do, but any face wash can do that. The exfoliating beads seem to be gentle enough such that they won't cause any scarring.

    Acne Marks or Scars

Here is a simple tip that you can use to reduce your acne scars and pigmentation.

    The Oil Cleansing Method

    What you will need:

    Warm Water

    Cold Water

    Clean Towels

    Castor Oil

    Olive Oil

The first thing you need to do is to wash your face gently to remove excess dirt and oils from the surface.

You will then need to warm a clean towel in warm water and apply it to your face for 3 minutes. Do the same thing with the cold water but this time for one minute.

Carry out both the warm water and cold water procedure about 3 times but always finish with cold and then pat dry with another clean towel.

Next mix a small amount of castor oil with a small amount of olive oil. A 50/50 ratio will do just fine. Apply the mixture to your skin and let it stay there for 30 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel and you are good to go.

I had severe acne on my face. But then I use is Clinical Super Serum and the condition soon improved. The best thing about the serum is that it also fades post-acne marks and scars on the face. I'm still using it and the spots on my face are gradually fading away.

The worst thing about acne is the scars and the marks it leaves behind. Some of the scars tend to disappear with time but some are so grave that it can be disfiguring which may make our heart sink.

The post acne marks is the hyper pigmented or red marks and is called as the post inflammatory marks. These marks take at least 6-12 months to completely disappear. When these marks last longer than a year then it turns into a scar. A number of things could be done to reduce the redness and to quicken its pace to disappear. There are also a number of home remedies available. Following are some of them.

Rub lemon juice on the scar/marks. This will lighten the color. Apply the juice and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Wash off your face and then apply a sun block lotion.

    2) Make a paste of sandalwood powder, black gram powder and rose water. Apply it on the area and I possible leave it overnight. Wash it with cold water the next morning. If you find that it makes you skin too dry then add some milk into it.

If these tips did not work for you, do not lose heart you can still try some other tips. Good Luck!
